Welcome to Stewart Medical Centre

surgery

We are an established, patient-focussed, well respected and progressive practice covering Buxton and the surrounding areas.  We currently have over 9,600 patients registered and our main aim is to provide our patients with high quality, accessible care in a responsive, courteous manner and in complete confidence.

Our dedicated team includes 3 male and 6 female doctors, 4 practice nurses and 2 healthcare assistants who, supported by our excellent administration and reception teams, are able to offer a wide range of services to treat illness and maintain well-being in the short and long term.  We are also a training practice offering learning placements to both medical students and foundation doctors.

Partners in Care

Our patient-focused approach sees patients and healthcare professionals working together to ensure that treatment and care is tailored to the individual. We work closely with our active patient participation group which endeavours to ensure that patients' needs and the Practice offering are always heading in the same direction.  We also work in partnership with other Practices locally as members of both North Derbyshire CCG and High Peak Primary Care Network.

Accessibility

Our surgery is fully accessible to patients using a wheelchair, and has car parking spaces available for disabled drivers. All consulting rooms are on the ground floor and are fitted with ‘rise and fall’ examination couches. There are disabled toilet facilities, with baby-changing facilities also available.  We have a loop hearing system in reception and a portable loop for patients to use during consultation. However, if you feel that you may need further assistance when you visit us, please let the receptionist know when you make your appointment so that we can make any arrangements necessary to make your visit as comfortable as possible. It is also useful for us to know if you have any hearing or visual problems.

Social Media

We regularly update our social media pages with updates on Practice services, links to NHS advice on particular conditions and other Practice news.  Click on the links below and follow us to get the latest updates:

Online Services

With social distancing set to be in place for a while, we have embraced technologies that allow us to communicate more easily with patients, such as secure video consultations and text messaging, and our use of these will continue to increase over the next few months.

It is also possible for patients to access their medical records, order repeat prescriptions and book appointments online (please note, appointment booking is currently suspended until further notice due to Coronavirus) using an online access provider.  Find out more in our section on Online Services.

In addition, you can now request a fitnote, check your symptoms, find out more about various conditions or even send a message to your GP and more with the new Online Consult Service (click on the banner below):
